As you may know, last year we ran a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC), together with the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), on how we monitor the planet’s atmosphere 🌍 with satellite 🛰️ and ground data 📡.

Air quality and pollution are subjects often mentioned in relation to our environment, but how can we really know how good or bad the air we breathe is?

  • How do we check on our levels of pollution?
  • How do satellites “see” our atmosphere and what do they tell us about it?
  • How do we use all of the is information to improve our environment?

This and many more burning questions were answered during this five-week course.

The lessons were divided into five weeks and included the following themes:

  • Threats to the atmosphere and why monitoring matters
  • How data from the space and ground-based monitoring networks are used by the Copernicus atmosphere monitoring service
  • Air quality and pollution types
  • Satellite monitoring and what we measure

The good news is that all of the lessons 📜 and material 📖 are now accessible on a stand-alone website, so you can check them anytime you like 💡!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask us!
